در این بازی همانند نسخه قبلی باید با استفاده از گیاهانی که در اختیار دارید مانع ورود مرده های متحرک به باغ خود شوید.در این بازی گل های جدیدی نسبت به نسخه قبل وجود دارد هم چنین قدرت های بازی افزایش پیدا کرده
یکی از مهم ترین تغییر ها بهبود گرافیک بازیست که هیجان بازی را دو چندان کرده است.در این نسخه نقشه های جدید چون Ancient Egypt,Pirates و … اضافه شده در در هر کدام از آنها زامبی های لباس های متفاوتی به تن دارند
